阿联酋学生发明救生滤水器

埃塞俄比亚之行激发了学生发明全球性创新型净水系统装置的灵感

阿布达比：三名阿布扎比纽约大学(NYUSD)的学生发明了创新型滤水系统，这将有有利于节约世界范围内的水源。

据世界健康组织称，世界上大约超过十五亿人遭受着饮用不干净水源的伤害，每九十秒就有一个儿童死亡。这些惊人的数据提醒我们发展净化饮用水卫生系统是世界范围内政府和人道主义机构关心的重点。

这三个工程专业的学生－NkosikhonaMsimanga,EderMunyampenda和AbdullahMohammad－在拜访埃塞俄比亚的Rema的村庄后提出了发明净水系统的想法，在那里他们亲眼看到了人们储备和饮用不干净水源。

AbuDhabi:ThreestudentsatNewYorkUniversityAbuDhabi(NYUAD)havedevelopedaninnovativewaterfilteringsystemthathasthepotentialtosavecountlesslivesaroundtheworld.

AccordingtotheWorldHealthOrganisation,morethan1.5billionpeoplearoundtheworldareadverselyaffectedbyuncleanwater,withonechilddyingevery90secondsasaresult.Withtheseharrowingnumbers,theissueofdevelopingfilteringandsanitationsystemsforcleandrinkingwaterhasbecomeakeyconcernforgovernmentsandhumanitarianorganisationsaroundtheworld.

Thethreeengineeringstudents—NkosikhonaMsimanga,EderMunyampenda,andAbdullahMohammad—cameupwiththeideaofdevelopingtheirwaterfilteraftervisitingthevillageofRemainEthiopiaandwitnessingfirst-handhowpeoplewouldresorttodrinkingwaterthatwasnotsafeforconsumption.

“Duringsenioryear,allstudentshavetocomeupwithacapstoneproject.Wearegivenawholelistofprojectstochoosefrom,andoneofthemhappenedtobedesigningawaterfilter.WeweremotivatedtochoosethisprojectbecauseofatriptoaremotevillageinEthiopiawherethevillagersdidnothaveaccesstoanyfiltrationsystems,”saidMsimanga.
