2016年，阿布扎比可持续发展周，阿布扎比最著名的地标性建筑采用绿灯装饰。ADSW是一个应对加速解决全球可持续发展清洁能源相关挑战的平台。

这是在中东历史上最大的一次关于可持续发展的会议。其中鼓励采取可行性措施来践行全球可持续发展道路。ADSW邀请了世界170余个国家参加此次会议。

ADSW举行这一会议时，首都的建筑包括酋长国皇宫酒店，阿提哈德塔，谢赫·扎耶德桥，阿布扎比国家石油公司Adnoc，新城区和阿布扎比国家展览中心Adnec正门都装饰绿色灯光来庆祝。
