阿联酋步入5G时代：航班上的高速互联网

TRA在ITU研讨会上透露方案

TelecommunicationsRegulatoryAuthority(TRA)isdiscussingplanstoallocatenewbandwidthfrequenciescompatiblewith5thgeneration(5G)mobilenetworks,enableairlinestoprovidehigh-speedbroadbandinternetconnectionduringflightsatlowercosts,anddevelopaglobalmaritimedistresssystem.Theseinitiativeswererevealedduringitsparticipationatarecently-heldseminarorganisedbytheInternationalTelecommunicationsUnion(ITU)inGeneva.

TheTRA,whichisheadingthePreparatoryMeetingforWorldRadiocommunicationConference(WRC),raisedseveralimportantclausesabouttheevent,whichwilltakeplacein2019.Itreviewedthesuggestedclausesonusingspacetelecommunicationsintermsofcurrentcapabilities,consideringthatspacetelecomsisamajoraspectofthespacesectoralongwithsatellitesandotherrelatedspacecommunicationtechnologies.
